BSA 40 / 50

Drilling and boring are very important machining Operations by chip removal. Due to varying shapes and angles of cutting edges, the drill which became a high-duty tool is adapted to a wide ränge of materials and production processes. High cutting Performance and long tool life of the cutting edge including precise and clean bore holes depend on an accurate bit and on precise cutting edges. KLINGEL-Drill Grinding Machines Models BSA 40 / BSA 50 fully meet these requirements.

Drill grinding machines:
Type BSA 40 (ø 3 - 40 mm) and
Type BSA 50 (ø 3 - 50 mm).

Tool grinding machines BSA 40 / BSA 50 are laid out for a grinding ränge from 3 to 40 respectively 50 mm. The basic machine consists of the welded machine frame, the grinding wheel carriage with the grinding wheel of 200 mm diameter and the tool support with clamping chuck and electric equipment.
The strongly dimensioned machine frame offers sufficient room for the electric control and the cooling plant.
The grinding wheel carriage is mounted in longitudinal and transverse direction on roller guideways, free from backlash. The adjustment is made in both directions with graduated hand wheels. The grinding wheel of 200 mm dia. is driven directly by a non vibrating built-in motor. Clamping of the grinding wheel with a change flange.

The tool carriage houses the mechanics and the drive of infinitely variable adjustment for the grinding motion and the clamping chuck. Point angle and clearance angle can be adjusted infinitely variable, too.
Using the Standard cam, it is possible to grind right-hand cutting drills with two and three cutting edges. The clamping chuck with one set of clamping jaws carries out the clamping across the entire clamping area.
To this end, the drill is centered at its land producing an exactly central drill point. Drills with cone shank are supported additionally with the centering sleeves MK1 to MK 4.
The machine frame houses separately the electric control. Push buttons are clearly arranged on the control panel which is pivotable if machines are equipped with a step grinding device, too.
The cooling device is housed in the machine socle. The Sedimentation basin holds about 35 litres. Inflow of the coolant in a flexible metal hose with stop valve and flat nozzle.
Thinning out is effected with the second grinding wheel immediately after the grinding of the point without unclamping the drill.
The oscillating device moves the grinding wheel carriage in longitudinal direction to the grinding wheel arbor allowing a füll use of the total grinding wheel width. lipon request, this device is laid out for quick motion.
Because of the automatic advance with infinitely variable speed and preselection counter, the grinding Operations are performed automatically.
Dressing of the circumference and wheel surface is possible with the dressing device for the main grinding wheel with longitudinal and transversal adjustment of the spindle.

The positioning device moves the clamping chuck automatically to the correct position for the clamping of the tool.
An additional counter-support for drills of which the overall length exceeds 500 mm is available.

Grinding Methods

Core drills
with 3 or 4 cutting edges undergo continiously a finish grinding process. Free grinding is realised by an infinitely adjustable axial motion.
Countersinks
The grinding of core drills with 2,3,4 or 6 cutting edges is performed at an extremely small clearance angle (infinitely variable adjustment). Additional attachments are provided to be put on for tools with one and with five cutting edges.
Screw taps
With 2,4, or 6 cutting edges are first ground with the tool rotation. Only by straight fluted screw taps.
Drills / Countersinks with pilot
It is possible to regrind drills and countersinks with pilots. You also can grind the pilot by a first step and the second step is to adjust the required angle and then grind this.

The grinding methods shown on these illustrations may be performed exactly by using the corresponding accessories.
